Dan Gabel, our chairman and CEO, has been leading Hagedorn & Company since 1979. He is the fifth generation of his family to lead the company and began his career on the audit staff of Price Waterhouse after graduation from Duke University in 1960. He joined Hagedorn in 1963 and continued his education at the College of Insurance and Pace University.
He holds the designation of CLU (Certified Life Underwriter) and AEP (Advanced Estate Planner). Dan is a member, and current or past board member of various local and national professional organizations. Dan is currently a board member and the President of the Insurance Brokers Association of New York (IBANY).
Dan is also a member of The Union League Club, Waccabuc Country Club, and the Nippon Club. He is on the Board of Overseers of Cheshire Academy, Board of Advisors at Duke University Nicholas School of the Environment, board member and past Chairman of the Board of Friends of the Earth, Vice President of the Hundred Year Association and a board member of Abtec Industries and Tekkote Corporation.
Dan resides in Manhattan’s Greenwich Village with his wife Bunny and daughter Elizabeth, both Duke graduates.
