Edwin W. Bitter ’52 wrote last June, “I am cochair of our family-owned business, Scalamandre Silks Inc., an importer and domestic manufacturer of fine home furnishing.
“My wife, Yana, and I spend one-half of the year in our Vero Beach home at the Bent Pine Club and the other half at Locust Valley on Long Island in New York. We have four children (Edwin Jr., Robert, Mark and Tami) and 19 grandchildren, two of whom are soon-to-be married.
“Although I did not play lacrosse, my fraternity brothers form Baltimore taught me to love the game. This, in turn, strongly influenced how I raised my own children-two of our boys became All-American and one is in the Boston College Hall of Fame. Our daughter, Tami, married a three-time world cup player, who was chosen for the World Hall of Fame. Many of our grandchildren are becoming stars in their own right.”
