Marshall T Mays '73
Marshall Mays '73 is a founder and director of Emerging Alpha Advisors, Ltd., a company engaged in advising on risk management and portfolio strategy, author of "Asian Values," a newsletter assisting readers in understanding long-term value within Asia's market, and Director of the Asian Bond Market Forum, a research institute dedicated to building Asia's financial infrastructure. He advises on risk management, and portfolio strategy.
He is also a director of the Asian Bond Market Forum, an independent research institute dedicated to improving Asia's financial infrastructure. He has spent over 22 years investing in Asia, managing IT and investment businesses; he spent eight years in Japan with Chase Manhattan and State Street Trust & Banking. He then served as Nikko Securities' Chief Strategist in HK. He is a licensed asset manager under SFC supervision in HK. Mr. Mays is a regular guest on Bloomberg TV and CNBC and Adjunct Professor at City University of HK. Previous activities include advising the People's Bank of China on establishing a consolidated regulatory framework for China's financial system and on the establishment of a publicly traded bond market.
He also advised on domestic securitization markets in Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Current projects include writing a book on the formation of effective bond markets for Asia, supporting development of both local credit-information agencies, and domestic securitization markets in several Asian countries, plus IT system design. He has written numerous articles and several books on the bond and pension markets of Asia. Marshall graduated from Wharton, John Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies, and and Duke University.
